The quietness that surrounded me pulled me from a deep slumber.

I rolled over on my side and looked around the room. As my cloudy vision turned clear, I was met with beautiful white snow. Deep Creek had always been my favorite getaway spot, and I should have known this was where Cole would have in mind.

Thinking about Cole brought a smile to my face.

“I need to get up because I know Santana is driving him crazy by now.”

I grabbed my cell phone and sat up.

Mommy: Hey, sleepyhead. Enjoy yourself, and let that man love you the way you deserve. You are finally in a position you’ve been praying for as long as I can remember. Christian did you a favor. Gone ‘head and get yo’ man, sis!

I tossed my head back at my mother’s antics.

Me: Mommy, please! You are so unserious.

Chuckling, I swung my feet over the edge of the bed and slipped my feet into my slippers.

We arrived the night before; I thoroughly cleaned the entire cabin. I used the bathroom and went to brush my teeth when I noticed a letter taped to the mirror. Cole’s chicken scratch made me smile as I pulled the letter from the mirror. That man had worse handwriting than a third grader.
